Hens party with a difference

When I was contacted regarding shooting for a hen's party I was stoked as I love a new challenge! I am shooting the wedding as well so we were all sneaky and organised for me to photograph the hen's party as a surprise.

Once the maid of honour explained that it was a bit different and told me of the plan for the day I was even more excited as it sounded very classy and lovely.  The bride-to-be had been kept in the dark, teased with strange ideas and thrown off the scent by her friends and fiance. On arrival at the park I was amazed at the amount of effort that the hen's friends had gone too.  It was such a beautiful set-up so quickly snapped some shots before she arrived.

The bride-to-be arrived and was amazed at the set-up.  Everyone looked fabulous and it had quite a magical feel to the event.

Surrounded by wonderful friends, lovely food and an awesome atmosphere, I am sure Leah had a day she will never forget. Best of luck for the big day and thankyou for letting me capture this unique occasion.

Practice shoot

I have a very important photoshoot coming up next month so I put a call out for a couple to practice on.  Lucky for me I had some takers and Anna & Ken came along for a late afternoon shoot by the river.  I spent some time scouting out locations, checking lighting and watching the clock and managed to snap some nice shots of this lovely couple.  The best part of doing these sessions is the people I am getting to meet and the variety of stories I get to hear.  As someone who hasn't always been the most extroverted person, it is giving me a great opportunity to improve my people skills. Huge thanks to this gorgeous couple for being so patient and I hope you like the shots I got :)

Sleeping beauty...

I have had quite a few sessions since my last blog post but will space them out a bit so as not to flood the page!

Firstly, I had the pleasure of photographing little Miss S who was just over a week old on the day of the session.  I arrived to find her sleeping peacefully in her bassinet and little did I know that this treasure would be a perfect angel for me. I was hesitant with every movement, trying desperately not to wake her but each time she stirred she drifted straight back to sleep! How blessed was I!!! While her mum looked on adoringly I took some photos that I hope her and her husband will treasure forever.  Being a Defence partner isn't always easy, and with partners away sometimes it's the little things that we hold onto for comfort Alison, I hope to take more photos of you together as a family in the near future  xo

Belly to baby...

Back in June, I met Bron and Ben who were waiting for the arrival of their first baby. We managed to get some nice belly shots and organised to come back after bub had arrived to get some newborn shots. After some juggling, organising and rearranging we managed to get some pretty good photos. It is always refreshing meeting a client who has their own ideas and shots that they want to try out. Little Xavier was a pleasure to photograph and eventually he drifted off so I quickly snapped away and got some sleepy photos. I really enjoy the journey involved from maternity to newborn sessions and the joy that new little babies bring is infectious. Thankyou to Bron and Ben - enjoy every moment with your new baby :)

First couples session

When the planets finally aligned, I got to meet Shelley and Greg down at the beach for a casual couples shoot. After buying a brand new lens earlier that afternoon, I was thankful that the rain held off, and the overcast afternoon provided some soft lighting for the session. It was definitely an easy session, despite these two thinking that they would look awkward and didn't know what to do. They are absolute naturals and listening to their banter and teasing was entertainment for me. Thanks guys for making my first couples session as easy as possible and for being my guinea pigs!

Kelly and family

I have only known Kelly for around 9 months but in that time I have found a lovely friend. I met Kelly, her husband and 3 gorgeous children at the beach for some family photos.  The afternoon light was beautiful and after much organising and rearranging of children we managed to snap some nice shots.  Glad you like them guys and wish you all the best on your journey ahead :)

In the beginning...

Welcome! I am beginning the journey into the next step of photography - doing shoots for strangers and going outside my comfort zone.  Scary and exciting all at the same time!
I have been interested in photography for many years now and have been slowly adding to my portfolio.  My camera is loving being used again and I am really enjoying the chance to meet new people and try different things after many years of hounding my children for photos.
I will be using this blog to post sneak peeks for clients and to share some shots with you all. Hopefully you will enjoy following my journey as much as I will enjoy travelling it. Wish me luck :)
